Wrapper of the Week Bespoke Press

If I was going to dream up a perfect gift wrapping paper, what would my list look like?

Bespoke LetterPress

  1. Environmentally responsible, recycled paper
  2. Two sided for wrapping versatility
  3. Heavy duty, so I can wrap packages that have to travel
  4. Beautiful, rich colors
  5. Accomplished graphic design
This producer of "couture stationery" in Australia hits all the marks. Their gift wrap is unbelievably beautiful, as well as everything I list above.  Here are some examples:

Doublesided black cockatoo/teal jungle design
You could get really creative with the double sided wrap if you start folding
I love the colors and scale of these designs
They have beautiful ribbon and gift tags too -- many currently on sale:

10 pack of multi occasion tags
Their story is pretty delicious too.

"Bespoke Letterpress is one of the world’s leading letterpress studios designing and printing fine letterpress and hot foil stationery.
Founded by Alischa Herrmann in 2007, what began as a small business based under an old timber house by the sea, Bespoke Letterpress has since grown into an international recognised and celebrated brand.
We print the beautifully old fashioned way, using antique cast iron machines, printing on imported luxuriously thick paper mixed with patience, perfection and a whole lot of love."
They name their presses! Here's a picture of Edward.

Dad Day

My dad, who passed away some years ago, was so important to me growing up.  He worked so hard to teach his children independent thought, intellectual honesty and love for one's fellow man through his words and deeds.  He went on to do the same with his grandchildren.  I never think of him without a warm feeling lighting up my day. I was fortunate enough to finally marry a man who brought all those special qualities and more to his dadship.

So we can all celebrate our wonderful dads, here's a quick round up from Etsy of Father's Day gift wrap, starting with some fun stamp action:

Talk to the Sun has great stamps you can use to make your own gift wrap.

What a great graphic choice from ThePerkyPainter in the UK!
Super Cute option with a great Dad Day tag. Awww.
FancifulChaos does the map gift wrap thing. So appropriate.

Happy New Year and Etsy Monday. PrismofStarlings.

Stargazer wrapping paper

I have a new super crush on a wrapping designer. Kirsty Baynham says this about herself:

"I'm an illustrator and printmaker focused on applied design, illustration, textile design and paper sculpture. My work explores the emotions and interactions between wildlife, plants and architecture, using intricate pattern scapes.

I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2011 with a degree in Illustration, and am currently based near the city of Glasgow.

My design range of printed stationery, homewares and jewellery, named Prism of Starlings, is available to purchase in my Etsy shop. I am also available to contact for for custom designs, illustration and graphic design commissions. Get in touch. :)

You can also find me here:

Her shop has the best wrapping paper and tags. For real.  I want them all.

Girl with husky. This is so Juneau, Alaska.

I grew up with a great dog in Alaska. She wasn't a husky, but looked like one. This wrapping paper made me think of her.

Fox and diamonds wrapping paper
The gift tags are incredible too.

This is how a bear should look!
Infinitum bird tags
Put a bird on it!

Etsy Monday Wrapping from RubiaCraft, Székesfehérvár, Hungary

I love how international Etsy is. Hungary, the United Kingdom, such lovely things from all over the place.  I was taken with the blues and greens of the wrapping paper from RubiaCraft, a paper design shop in Hungary:

3 sheets size A3
Another choice
and another.
Here is what the shop owner says:

"draw. cut. touch. repeat

My name is Kondor Valéria, freelance visual artist.
I m behind the shop RubiaCraft.

I am fascinated with
block prints
organic compositions
freedom within structure
the fact that lino cutting and paper craft creates the art&image by removing pieces
the repeat patterns where the elements seem the same but they are not
the mis-registered prints where the color layers float under-above the outline.

I love making boxes. I design all of them myself, so you will not find the same elsewhere.

I have been in art for over twenty years, mostly in painting. Meanwhile I spent ten years in the animation industry as production manager, then returned to full time art."
