One of my favorite movies from the 80s was
84 Charing Cross Road, a (trueish) story of a transatlantic correspondence between a writer in New York looking for rare books and the staff of a venerable bookstore in London. Mostly a story of friendship, Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins were brilliant depicting worlds gently colliding - brash New York and civilized London.
Bookishly UK, this Monday's Etsy shop, might become my 84 Charing Cross Road. Featuring designs by Louise Verity, the shop is decidedly book-inspired. There is a choice selection of quotes, prints, cards and of course wrapping paper. There is just something so appealing and elevating about her designs. You feel smarter just appreciating them.
